Amy Carson

Amy Carson has been dancing in the Washington , DC metro area for 10 years including dancing with Jazzdanz/dc, a JOMDC Arts Partner. She has performed in many venues in the D.C. area including Lisner Auditorium, The Catholic University of America, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, Carter Barron Amphitheatre, and The Jack Guidone Theatre. In addition, she was selected to perform at the Kennedy Center Opera House during the 2002 Kennedy Center Honors’ salute to Chita Rivera. She has also performed in several musical theatre productions in the area including playing the role of “Valerie” in SMP ’s production of “Pal Joey” for which she won SMP ’s Robert Joyce Award.  She also played the role of Patty Simcox in CAST in McLean ’s production of “Grease” -- a role that was well-received by local press.

Amy’s choreography credits include co-choreographing “Victor Victoria”, “The Will Rogers Follies”, and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. Her choreography for “How to Succeed” was praised by the local press. She also choreographed “Cabaret” for the Little Theatre of Alexandria for which she was nominated for a WATCH Award for best choreography. In addition, Amy has choreographed several student numbers that have been routinely recognized for their professional quality.

Amy has had the good fortune of studying with many great dance artists. She has taken master classes with such dance icons as Billy Siegenfeld, Gus Giordano, Luigi, and Joe Orlando; plus, Deb Leamy, Ha Chi Yu  (Fosse Dance Captain) and other cast members of Broadway’s “Fosse”. She has also studied jazz technique with Douglas Yeuell, Helen Hayes, Robert Teri, and Tim Roberts. In addition, she has studied with many great modern dance instructors including: Helanius J. Wilkins, Helen Hayes, and Miya Hisaka.
