about the jack guidone theater

The Jack Guidone Theater, located at JOMDC Friendship Heights, opened in 1995 as a casual and intimate theater space named for one of Joy of Motion Dance Center's founding faculty members. Jack Guidone was a dancer, choreographer, teacher, designer, and mask maker. Mr. Guidone, who died in 1987, was a long-time force in the DC arts scene. The theater honors the creative spirit of Mr. Guidone by presenting the works of many new and developing artists.

The Jack Guidone Theater space provides a much needed performance venue for small scale productions. The space also functions as a home for most of JOMDC's in-house and student productions, as well as being an affordable and popular venue for new artists and companies, as well as established artists desiring an intimate space in which to show their work.
