Vision and Purpose:
In
Arabic, the word "mumtaz" signifies
"distinction" or "excellence".
Ensemble Mumtaz is Joy of Motion Dance Center's adult student
company dedicated to artistic excellence in the presentation of
Middle Eastern dance. The repertoire ranges from
traditional Middle Eastern folklore to classic Raqs Sharqi to
contemporary fusion. Company members will develop
performance skills needed to achieve artistic excellence.
The supportive, inspirational environment of Ensemble Mumtaz seeks
to foster community and provide an enhanced understanding of
Middle Eastern art and culture.

September 21, 2008 - Sunday, June 21, 2009.
Tuition: $740.00

Students
must enroll in at least one additional Belly Dance/Middle Eastern
dance technique class at Joy of Motion Dance Center.

Students
must purchase or create their own costuming according to company
director guidelines. Costume
expense will be kept to a minimum. Students may be asked
to participate in additional fundraisng endeavors if necessary.
Company
Rehearsal:
Company
members must be available for company rehearsal that will meet
Sundays,12:00 - 1:30 p.m., at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Friendship
Heights, and for additional rehearsals as necessary.

Dance Center Middle Eastern faculty as well as other invited guest
artists, and performance opportunities.
